TACNY is pleased to announce the winners of the 24th Celebration of Technology Awards! Join us as we recognize the best in STEM in Central NY.

The following are the award winners, categories and criteria:

  • Bruce Searles, PhD, CCP (SUNY Upstate), TECHNOLOGIST OF THE YEAR – A resident of Central New York who has made recent outstanding contributions to advances and improvements in a STEM field, not limited to engineering.
  • Kyle Miller (Lockheed Martin), YOUNG TECHNOLOGIST OF THE YEAR – resident of Central New York, 35 years old or less, who has made recent outstanding contributions to advances and improvements in a STEM field.
  • ARTS-V3 Variable Aperture Digital Radar (Lockheed Martin) and RF Machine Learning for Enhanced Spectrum Awareness (Marconi-Rosenblatt AI Innovation Lab, ANDRO Computational Solutions), CO-STEM PROJECTS OF THE YEAR – A current outstanding technology project, invention, or process designed, invented, or constructed in Central New York.
  • Jackie Anderson (Syracuse University), COLLEGE EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR – An educator who has made outstanding contributions in STEM Education at the college level in Central New York.
  • Christopher Wahl (CitiBOCES), HIGH SCHOOL EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR – An educator (Grades 9-12), not necessarily a teacher, who has made outstanding contributions in STEM Education at the high school level in Central New York.
  • The MOST Education Department (Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science & Technology), ELEMENTARY OR MIDDLE SCHOOL EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR – An educator (Grades K-8), not necessarily a teacher, who has made outstanding contributions in STEM Education at the elementary or middle school level in Central New York.
  • Dr. Tolga Hayali (Science Academies of New York), TECHNOLOGY EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR – An educator, not necessarily a teacher, who has made outstanding contributions in Technology Education in Central New York.
  • Doug Yung (Syracuse University), STEM OUTREACH, INDIVIDUAL – A resident of Central New York who has increased interest in science or technology or expanded opportunities for people with limited access to science or technology.
  • Student Environmental Education Coalition (SUNY College of Environmental Science & Forestry), STEM OUTREACH, ORGANIZATION – An organization in Central New York that has increased interest in science or technology or expanded opportunities for people with limited access to science or technology.
  • Dr. Shiu-Kai Chin (Syracuse University), LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

Our keynote speaker is Jianshun “Jensen” Zhang, Ph.D., Executive Director of the SyracuseCoE, the New York State Center of Excellence in Environmental and Energy Systems, at Syracuse University. The title of his keynote presentation is “Managing Indoor Air Quality at Multiple Scales – from Urban to Personal Microenvironments.”
