Talk Overview:
How does a medicine go from being a theory, to being in your medicine cabinet? How do software systems, databases, and people help make that happen? Life Sciences Consultant Jeremy Eastman, founder of Salt Springs Informatics, Inc. will cover the major phases of a drug’s discovery, manufacture, distribution, and post-approval tracking – and the typical roles, information systems, data, and data-interfaces used throughout those phases.
Biography:
Jeremy Eastman is founder and CEO of Salt Springs Informatics, Inc., a management consultancy providing program/project management, quality systems, compliance, innovation, and system life-cycle services to help life science companies (pharma, biotech, medical device, and nuclear imaging) address business, regulatory, and information technology challenges. A native Central New Yorker, Jeremy received his B.S. from SUNY Polytechnic Institute, did graduate studies at the Center for Biotechnology at Stony Brook University (Fundamentals of the Bioscience Industry) and Imperial College London (Business & Entrepreneurship), and received a Project Management certification from Boston University. Jeremy started his career in life sciences at Bristol-Myers Squibb’s Syracuse facility, went on to join the consulting company Taratec, and has since spent the last 15 years helping life sciences companies in the U.S. and Europe. Before founding Salt Springs Informatics, Jeremy was a Director and industry expert with global-consulting company Capgemini’s life sciences practice; his last 4 years have been focused on helping Research and Development organizations innovate their general research and drug-discovery workflows. Prior to working in life sciences, Jeremy was a Project Manager & Solutions Architect with local “dot.com-era” internet start-up Nysernet / Applied Theory, and a Business Analyst with former local corporation Agway.
